German Dictionary, Nifty Words App revisa

I love this app. I went on an exchange in Germany and used this app daily. It was wonderful. It not only gives you the translation of almost any word, but it gives you some conjugations and how it is used as well. I'm completely satisfied with this app. I wish there was a Nifty Words for Italian too!

I haven't checked other German-English dictionaries, so I can't tell if this is the best or if there are better ones available. As for this one, it is good Pros: Decent coverage of everyday phrases. Search after 3 characters in both languages is very useful and convenient Price is OK Cons: When I was checking out the app extension I found a typo "standart" in the welcome screen. That does not give my high confidence in the spelling accuracy. Way too much focus on British English provided that the are approx. 6 times more Americans around. Recommendation: get a native American speaker involved in a version 2.0

I have been through many language apps, and I study German the most. So far, I trust and use this app the most. I really wish thus developer would do more languages.

This is a really quick, accurate, and respected source. I am learning German and I prefer this to google translate. And for only 99¢ it's a good deal!

Spending 80 hours in Munich studying German. There is no single perfect dictionary, except the several inch thick paper variety. Of the 4 I've cycled through, this is the one I reliably go to & find mostly correct translations quickly & easily. It's a relatively small dictionary, but for everyday words is great. Biggest complaint is that the 'neuter' or das symbol looks too much like symbol for feminine, at least on iPhone screen - whether right or not, please make it more distinct! (I'd add a star if they'd fix that). Otherwise, very good for the price.

Used it to decipher menus and to try and remember my limited German. Worked great! Found almost every word I was searching for, and loved the conjugation of verbs!

If it did pronunciation it would be perfect. This is probably what you're looking for.

Nothing is missing, even conjungations and past tense forms are provided. Just exzellent!

Very incomplete. Absurd errors. Found no match or was in error 50 % of attempts.

Love that it brings up words as you type, AND you can type a German or english word (no need to choose a language first like a different app I tried), AND it works without wifi or data. Perfect app!

Simply amazing. It's more than just a dictionary, it lists every other word related to the word you look up. Impress your friends with this app and look up many words in the time it would take someone to look up just one word in a printed book. Herr Saken, you have outdone yourself! Danke schön!

What makes this dictionary so unique and valuable is that it provides all the variations and uses of words that you look up. Highly recommended!!

Whether your mother tongue is English or German, if you move between those languages every day, this app is the only one you need. Incredibly fast and complete. One starts to type the word to be defined, without having to choose the language, and with the entry of the third character a list of likely words appears in both languages. The definitions are modern. Colloquial and slang expressions are included. There isn't another app in this field that is a match for the speed, ease of use, and bullet-proof reliability of Nifty Words.

I Love this app! I use it everytime i Need help with some german words. What's more, i got the app for FREE while it was at promotion. 

I think a lot of Germans must have rated this, and as you may know, getting a "1" in German schools is like getting an "A" in America. This is the only explanation I can think of for why this German-English dictionary has so many 1 ratings. This dictionary is absolutely excellent! It's far more comprehensive than any of my paper dictionaries, and has very useful intelligent searching. Also, when you look at a word, just as with a very good book dictionary, the program also shares various phrases which include the pertinent word. Both my kids study German, and I'm polishing my rusty skills. Nifty Words has been essential to our on-the-go search for words. Thank you for a truly awesome app!

Exactly what I was hopping for. Sehr gut.

This thing is great and it's fast and offline! Much more extensive database than any other free dictionary. But two things need changing: need to indicate word gender (M F N - but I see that's in version 1.03 - can't wait for the update) and change the crappy icon (it just looks cheap compared with others). But these things are minor - get this app; a must for lovers of the German language. 

First I downloaded the App and it did not work, so I deledet it and downloaded the App again. It is perfect, there are words translated that I cannot find in any dictionary! Way to go dieter.
